the kids Hazel, mine, and John's
When we put the kids to bed last night we told them not to wake us up before 8 AM. I woke up by 7:15, I could hear the kids talking about the presents under the Christmas tree, but they never went downstairs. I was amazed. While John and I got dressed they went downstairs and looked at their stockings and the presents, but they never messed anything up.
This year we did it much better, we had each child open a present at a time so everyone could see what they had received. Last year it was mass chaos with everyone opening at the same time. It is so fun to watch the expressions on their faces as they open the gifts. Each one had only asked for a few specific items so many of the presents were surprises. Needless to say everyone was very happy and excited with what they received.
We had already decided we would stay at our house the whole day, so when all the presents were open we ate breakfast and and the kids were able to just sit and play. Kristina's favorite gifts were a little dog which flipped and High School Musical Barbies. Luba loved her doll cradle and Cabbage Patch baby with the same birthday as her. Michael spent most of the afternoon playing with a two race tracks and Woody from 'Toy Story'. Our biggest surprise for the kids was a trip to Walt Disney World for 6 1/2 days in January. They were very excited, but I think John is more excited. They weather should be great and the crowds low.
Later, John and I got to sit down and just relax for a little bit, after John had straightened up the living room.
At 4 PM my parents, Allison, Brian, and Nathaniel came over with presents for the kids and to have turkey sandwiches. I know when I was a kid I didn't get this many presents!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
